It’s about commitment
“Understand that when keeping your commitment (to yourself) becomes hard, you have two choices: You can change your behavior to match your commitment, or you can lower you values to match your behavior. One choice will strengthen your (self) integrity; the other will deminish it and erode your confidence in your ability to make and keep commitments in the future.”—Stephen Covey The Speed of Trust
This quote was discussed over at the PNP Forums & blog and it hit really close to home. I have become complacent with my life and where I am, and I find myself lowering my values & standards to adapt to my current behaviors. This in turn has spilled over into many areas of my life including my spiritual, educational & fitness areas as well as others.
I’m tired of being complacent & lowering my values. I am much better than what I have become.
Today, I am making a commitment to change. Cold turkey — probably not, it’s not me, but I will be taking baby steps.
I am making a commitment to get healthier & fitter.
I am making a commitment to grow stronger in my relationship with God.
I am making a commitment to stick it out & finish school.
No matter what it takes! I will do this.

Vilma,
I’ve been thinking about you a LOT lately. I had a feeling something was going on and didn’t want to pry, but was also trying to think of advice I could offer that might help. I haven’t thought of anything profound just yet…lol…but I want you to know that you’re not alone in what you’re feeling and there are others out there that know how you feel. I think baby steps is the way to go.
Wishing you strength and courage,
Jen

Vilma,
You are most definitely not alone. This lifestyle change we have chosen can and will throw us curve balls but we just have to focus and push past them. I know you can do it. Thanks for sharing that great quote.

Just wanted to hop on here and cheer you on girl! I know you can do it! You don’t have to be the “fat friend” and the ones who do truly love you and care about you don’t want you to be. You’re doing great! Keep up the good work! Hey think of it this way, even at your WORST you are still ahead of 98% of the population who wouldn’t even attempt to move. You are an inspiration girl! keep on creating your story!
Blessings,
Kassandra

Thanks for the comment Kass. Well things have been just ok weight wise. I’m flirting with the 200’s once again but will never go there again! My goal is to meet 2008 at my lowest this year which gives me about 11 lbs to lose. I think i’ll do ok. I’ve started exercising once again. Boy am I out of shape! It’s sad that it can take so long to get in shape but only a few weeks to let everything go. Hubby and I have started seriously talking about babies sometimes next year beginning in the October 2008 timeframe so I better get with it huh?
Thanks for stopping by!
