Kimkins former cover girl speaks out

October 03, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Kimkins Diet 4 Comments →

Thanks to Drive Thru Only Diet Blog for sharing this:

Everyone, if you haven’t already, please be sure to visit Christin’s blog and view her touching and heartwrenching video where she discusses her health problems due to following the dreadful Kimkins diet…. Christin was the Woman’s World cover girl, one of the real so-called success stories and not some pilfered photos from across the internet as are most of Kimkins’ other Before and After phonies. Christin’s photos are what Heidi used to sell Kimkins and pimp it across the nation to unsuspecting dieters. And now Christin has not only left the company and disavowed any connection to them, but she’s come forward with very personal and intimate testimony about how much she damaged her health by following this diet and listening to this criminal, Heidi Diaz.

Please go HERE and see it. Take her message to heart. Stop the Kimkins diet!

Update October 4: Last night, the show focused on the health risks of the Kimkins diet. A doctor was interviewed, who confirmed that it is a “starvation” diet. Christin was also interviewed, and she did a great job.

Also, yesterday it was revealed in the Kimkins Exposed Blog that many of the photos used for the “success” stories on Kimkins.com, including the “after” photo of Kimmer in Woman’s World were stolen from “Russian Bride” Web sites (links below).

It’s important to note that these health problems can often happen weeks or months after the diet is stopped, as in Christin’s case. Morals of the story: 1) Don’t risk your health with extreme diets. 2) Be careful to check out health claims carefully before participating in any unfamiliar health regimen.

Spread the word!! Heidi Diaz needs to be stopped!

Dear Friends & readers,

I have just read and signed the online petition:

“Request for Kimkins Investigation”

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/kimkins/

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might
agree, too.  If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider
signing yourself.

Please read my RANT and REVIEW for more info on this crazy & unhealthy “diet”.

Thanks to Sherrie for making me aware that there was something out there like this…

=================

To: Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, California Attorney General

Believing it to be true that Kimkins.com is promoting medically unsound and potentially life-threatening diet plans in which many followers have complained of one or more of the following:

  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Muscle fatigue or weakness
  • Heartbeat palpitations
  • Moderate to severe hair loss
  • Bone and joint pain
  • Mental changes - irritability, forgetfulness, confusion
  • Bowel complications/symptoms of laxative abuse

And that the founder of Kimkins, known as “Kimmer”;

  • is not certified or licensed in any way to dispense nutritional and medical advice
  • claims to have lost 198 lbs. but has never provided solid evidence of such loss, having refused to be interviewed in person
  • has advised the daily use of laxatives extended beyond products? warnings
  • has pushed diet followers to stay as low in calories as possible, even as low as 0-300 calories a day
  • has used questionable marketing techniques to generate membership revenues by:
  • displaying false “before/after” testimonials
  • using viral marketing techniques such as the willful mis-planting that young celebrities have followed the plan in order to target a younger demographic, including pre-teens
  • has allowed affiliates to spam many valid forums with misleading information
  • advertising the acquisition of an e-book as included in the membership fee, which she never produced

We, the undersigned hereby request that this website, Kimkins.com and its founder, “Kimmer” be properly investigated in an expedient manner so as to prevent harm from coming to more individuals who might try these plans.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Diet Review: Kimkins Diet

August 28, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Kimkins Diet, Reviews 7 Comments →

OK…. This review has been LONG overdue.

A couple a months ago the Kimkins Diet was all the craze when it was featured on the cover of Woman’s World with the title, “Better Than Gastric Bypass!”.

I heard about it on the WAHM.com Fitness boards and was 100% against it from the start because it was very unbalanced & too low in calories!

You can read my rant HERE.

Here are other post’s that came up about the Kimkins Diet:

http://www.wahm.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=394682
http://www.wahm.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=400655

Now, months have passed & the Kimkins diet craze has passed and also raised a few eyebrows & questions about the validity of the person behind Kimkins & her “diet”.

My own personal recommendation…

Don’t try a quick fix. It does not work in the long run!!!

The TRUTH about fast weightloss

June 17, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: **FEATURED Posts**, Burn Fat-Feed Muscle, Kimkins Diet, Reviews 10 Comments →

I’m really disappointed today… people just DO NOT LEARN!!! A friend of mine announced yesterday that she is going to start doing the Kimkins Diet to get undo the damage done in her weekend weight gain. :?

The Kimkins diet is based on the theory of Ketosis. She has an induction period that puts your body into Ketosis. When in Ketosis you lose your appetite, thus the low calorie intake. It is somewhat like Dr. Stillman’s induction minus the cheese and she allows a little oil for cooking. Then Phase 2 is Kimkins which is with the 2 cups of salad and .5 of veggies but only those on the list, or 3 cups of salad greens. She does not allow net carb counting and no processed Low Carb foods. She recommends no exercise & does not promote drinking water either. :o

I understand that my friend wants a drastic change, but come on!!!!!!!!!!!! Less than 1000 calories a day (view the creator’s fitday eating plan) !!! I can’t believe the “advice” that this girl Kimmers is giving…

Not at all. Look at people with gastric bypass surgery (400-500 calories), Stillmans (600-750 calories) or the water fasters (0 calories) … all lose 1 pound a day or more.

Your carbs are very, very low (and calories too), so you’re do for a “whoosh” by tomorrow morning. Once it starts, it’s like a domino effect and gets bigger, faster … you’ll see.

==================

Uh… yeah… your gonna lose weight, but you should also kiss your lean muscle buh-bye if you’re going to be eating low calories.

What happens after the “diet”? What happens when you reach your goal? Are you going to go back to your conventional way of eating?

Sad, Sad, Sad…

OK, I guess that’s enough.

End of rant.

I also found this interesting article written by Tom Venuto about the consequences of fast weight-loss.

Enjoy the article!

===============

Here is an excerpt:

…The faster you lose weight, the more muscle you will lose right along with the fat, and that can really mess up your metabolism.

An even bigger problem with fast weight loss is that it just won’t last. The faster you lose, the more likely you are to gain it back. It’s the the “yo-yo diet effect” - weight goes down, but always comes back up.

Don’t Be Fooled By Water Weight Losses

One thing you should also know is that it’s very common to lose 3 - 5 pounds in the first week on nearly any diet and exercise program and often even more on low carb diets (because low carb diets deplete glycogen and every gram of glycogen holds 3 grams of water). Just remember, its NOT all fat - WATER LOSS IS NOT FAT LOSS - AND WATER LOSS IS TEMPORARY!
