10/11/07 Daily Journal

October 11, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal 3 Comments →

Well, my weight is down to 191 today but I still haven’t lost inches, so most of it might of been water weight.  My eating was good again yesterday until the night where I went a bit crazy with the bread & cream cheese.

I’ve been trying to following a low carb plan, and have been doing fairly decent until I get to those night time hours and those munchies kick in like crazy!  Maybe it’s due to the “BEAST” as my friend lovingly calls it aka. TOTM, but it stinks because I sabatoge my progress. I’m gonna need to learn to be more diciplined and start planning out my meals & emergency low carb snacks better so I won’t be caught in this predicament again.

10/10/2007 Daily Journal

October 10, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal, Get Organized! 1 Comment →

So, I switched my workout day yesterday.  I was feeling under the weather and DOMS had set in BIG time.  I will be doing yesterday’s planned workout today + my additional Couch to 5K run (if I have the energy).  Eats yesterday were fine up until after 8:00 pm when the munchies kicked in… those last bits and pieces of cheetos and ice cream where calling out my name and I gave in.  So there goes my planned cheat meal for Saturday….  :-(  I will be aiming to eat between 1500 - 1700 cals today through next Friday, since I took my big 2500 day yesterday.

On a organizing and slight financial note, I’ve been searching and searching for a good financial/daily planner that will help me in everything from budgeting to grocery shopping & meal planning.  I have found a few and have used a few but they have been so overwhelming, confusing or just not what I was looking for.  But lo and behold, I think I have found one that might have it all — or atleast when I need for now.  It’s called the Daily Home Planner & I’m about to try a 30 day FULLY FUNCTIONAL trial — for FREE!!!! How awesome is that!  Will give it a full review after my 30 days are done.

My body is tired today and I think I might be coming down with a cold.  I have taken some Vitamin C & Bee Pollen to try and kill it before it hits full swing.  I wonder what it was…. maybe working out again.  Yesterdays workout was tough and I usually end up getting sick when I start a new exercise routine…. hopefully this time will not happen that way.

Well… as some of you know, I’ve been raving about the Turbulence Training workouts and how fast and effective they are.  Just wanted to give my readers a heads up that through October 15, you can check out the Turbulence Training Members site with a 14-day basic level membership for just $1.  The TT 4 week workout manuals available for you to download this month are:

  • TT 500 Bodyweight 4-Week Workout (A dumbbell/bodyweight fusion workout with bonus 500 rep fitness challenges to test your progress)
  • TT for Abs 4-Week Workout (A classic TT fat loss workout manual using free weights with additional abdominal circuits)
  • TT Original Bodyweight 4-Week Workout (The original, no-equipment needed TT bodyweight fat loss workout program)
  • TT Nutrition Guidelines by Dr. Chris Mohr (Nutrition guidelines/food planning manual that teaches you how to eat for optimum results.  Very much like Precision Nutrition without the fluff and the $99 price tag.)

Remember, if you don’t want to keep the membership after your 14-day trial, make sure to cancel before the regular charge of $19.95/month kicks in!

Sign up for the $1 two-week trial here

10/8/07 Daily Journal

October 08, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal, Stats & Measurements 2 Comments →

Ah… what a WONDERFUL thing to have a day off!

I stepped on the scale this morning and I saw a whopping 194.5 lbs. :O Yikes! 1 or 2 lbs of that is probably water weight but the rest I have gained in a period of 3 weeks of no activity and mindless, crazy & out of control eating. TOTM is right around the corner, so that might be a factor as well. My goal for this week is to make at least 80% compliance in the eating department…. I will be working up to 90% within the next 2 weeks or so.

Here are my updates for today:

  • 6 hours of sleep
  • Exercise for the day:
    • Total Body - Upper Dominant (40 mins);
      • TOTAL minutes: 53 mins
      • TOTAL calories burned: 619 cals
    • Couch to 5K running: Week 1, Workout 1 (20 mins)
      • TOTAL minutes: 20 mins
      • TOTAL calories burned:300 cals
  • Water (aiming for ATLEAST 128 oz.)- done!  :D
  • EATS: You can check out my Food Log HERE:
    • B - Spicy Spinach Omelett
    • S - EAS Advantage Carb Control, 1/2 Avocado
    • L - Sundried Tomato Chicken Burger w/ Spinach Salad
    • Post Workout - BCAA/Glutamine/PP Cocktail
    • D - 4 oz Salmon, Gazpacho Salad & Garbanzo Beans

Don’t read this unless you want to laugh

October 04, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Healthy Tips, Humor, Videos 1 Comment →

This sure made my day!

(Watch This Video — 1 minute 30 seconds)

Laughing is a vital tool for your health, so take this opportunity right now to enjoy a good belly laugh. I guarantee you; these videos of laughing babies will definitely put a smile on your face!

Laughter is, indeed, a key ingredient to optimal health, and I know of no good reason not to try and make sure you laugh as often as possible, everyday.

If you‘re not convinced, there is plenty of research to back up this advice:

  • Laughter increases blood flow as much as exercise does
  • A happy disposition can lengthen your lifespan, regardless of age, weight, or smoking habits
  • Laughter helps diabetics process blood sugar better
  • Positive emotions can help you see life‘s bigger picture

Exactly why laughter is so good for you is not fully understood, but who cares? It‘s fun. It‘s easy. And, it works.

According to some anthropologists, laughter creates bonding within a group, which may explain why you are 30 times more likely to laugh when other people are present, and why laughter is often contagious.

So… go ahead… share these videos with others, spread the laughter, and strengthen your bonds of friendship at the same time!
