So… I’ve been thinking that i’m thinking too much! :D Too much about FOOD (how many times I should be eating, all my macro-nutrient ratios, what calories I should be aiming for, etc…). I’m not saying this is NOT important, but in my case, I think it’s getting in the way of my real objective for now which is to lose fat.
As i’ve been going back through every single post that i’ve made (trying to updated links), I was reminded on how I managed to lose 20 lbs easily during the months of February - May. I observed that what worked for me was doing consistent exercise & portion control which consequently helped me eat less. I ate only when hungry and stopped when I was SATISFIED (NOT full or stuffed!), I lead an active life filled with activities such as playing tennis, basketball & volleyball; I lifted weights 3 times a week & did some kind of cardio everyday. I didn’t track my nutrients before, I ate almost everything in moderation & most importantly, I exercised everyday — no matter what - even if it was just a 30 minute walk or a home video, I manged to do something.
The following months (June - present), i’ve only been able to lose 5 lbs. Why?
- Maybe it had to do with going to a full time work schedule which equalled less time to workout?
- Maybe it had to do with getting too technical about things such as macronutrient ratios & fitting in my oh for example: 1839 calories, (190 g of protein, 157 g of carbs & 42 g of fat)?
- Maybe it had to do with me being terrified that I was going into starvation mode and so I justified this by having a 3,000 calorie day!
- Maybe it had to do with trying to fit in my 6th meal at 1100 pm at night?
- Maybe it had to do with me sleeping only 4-6 hours every night.
- Or, maybe, just maybe… it was because my body got accustomed to what I was doing & it needed a change??
I asked this question over at the PN Forums and you can view the answers & suggestions here:

Maybe, maybe maybe…. what if, what if, what if…. I can go on all my life wondering what happened and what if I did this and that… But I won’t even waste my time. Oviously what I was/wasn’t doing, was not working for me RIGHT NOW. So for now, I will go back to the:
Eat less, Exercise more. Plain and simple.
I will continue to apply principles that i’ve learned along the way, but I won’t get too wrapped up in just one particular program. Once I’ve reach my goal or am closer to my goal (about 10 lbs), then I will probably go back to these programs head on because losing those last lbs. is the hardest to do.
So for now, plain and simple and still following BASIC Precision Nutrition principles (because I am still participating in the challenge) & exercising 6 days a week with 1 guilt free rest day. I will TRY and track my calories everyday but will guide myself through food portions & the hunger meter, always stopping when i’m satisfied.
That’s it for now…. more on Vilma’s plan later!
