PNTC – Week 5 Review & NEW challenge

August 20, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal, Personal Challenges 1 Comment →

Today marks Week 6 Day 36 of my Precision Nutrition Body Transformation Challenge & Week 22 Day 149 of my Civilian Fitness Program, AND…. Week 1 Day 1 of my Personal 4 WK Challenge.

Why so many programs you ask?? I don’t know, I’m crazy like that I guess.

But don’t worry… they are all intertwined because I started doing Civilian Fitness almost 6 months ago, I knew I needed a good nutrition & weight training program so… in comes Precision Nutrition & Turbulence Training (i’m giving away a FREE 4-week program in my downloads page). My Personal 4 –WK challenge is just a mini goal that I have set for myself for the next 4 weeks (more on that in a bit).

So… how is it going? This past week was pretty good. I did A LOT of cardio & not much resistance training this past week. I’ve also had a lot on my mind recently especially a comment my husband made this past Thursday… It made me angry, sad & embarrassed but it also gave me a new sense of determination that you wouldn’t believe.

So this is what happend: After we finished playing basketball & volleyball with a couple of friends, I wanted to go out to the track and do some HIIT sprints. So we did them (it was a GREAT workout by the way!!! TT interval training.) and we are doing our last 5 minutes of cool down when we (our friend Zelene, my hubby & I) start talking about what we ALWAYS talk about — nutrition & exercise programs & what works best. I started commenting on the BFFM & PN Habits and how there’s also this new book that I think hubby would like (because he likes to cheat on weekends), and I jokingly asked him if he would want me to buy it for him… and lo an behold, he goes on a rant telling our friend how bad I was because I buy all these nutrition & exercise books, read them, but never follow them and I never get results!!!

I said… “ I haven’t gotten results???”

and he said, “NO!”

I almost started crying of embarrassment and just plain anger … I could not believe that he didn’t acknowledge the 40+ inches i’ve lost and the 30+ lbs of FAT loss that I have accomplished these past 5 months. I was CRUSHED.

Not wanting to make a scene, I composed myself and kept on walking until we finished. That night I did a lot of thinking and although what he said was pretty mean, I knew that it was partially true. I mean… I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable in the nutrition & exercise field, but I know that I struggle in practicing what I preach every day. If I want to be a good example to the people that I help now and in the future, my body needs to have something to show for it.

So… that is where my Personal 4 WK Challenge idea was born. I want to prove to myself & my HUSBAND and anyone else that has ever questioned my success & my knowledge, that I CAN DO THIS & practice what I preach. What I basically did was plan out my workout schedule for the next 4 weeks & I will still be following PN principles (because i’m still participating in the PN Transformation Challenge…) specifically concentrating on the 10 daily habits. I will be implementing these 4 WK challenges until I reach my ULTIMATE GOAL.

So, my goals for Challenge #1 (August 20 - September 17, 2007) are:

  • Be at or under 180 lbs scale weight
  • Wear a loose size 12 jeans/snug size 10’s
  • Be able to ear wedding ring all day
  • Loose 1% Body Fat

Time Frame: 4 wks (20 August, 2007 - 17 September 2007) - 29 days

Nutrition: Precision Nutrition’s 10 Habits

Workouts: CFP Classes, Turbulence Training, Turbo Jam, P90X & other beach body videos

My weight has been fluctuating between 188-190 lbs this past week… so that’s good. TOTM started yesterday & I feeling pretty bloated and I’m retaining a lot of water right now.  Weight should stabilize in a couple of days.

Anyhow….

Here are my exercise stats for last week:

  • Official Exercise Count:7
  • Exercise Time: 6.75 hours
  • Total Calories Burned: 4,704

SO, my dear hubby…………….

BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PNTC - Week 4 review - A Picture of ME!

August 13, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal, Pictures 2 Comments →

Today marks Week 5 Day 29 of my Precision Nutrition Body Transformation Challenge & Week 21 Day 142 of my Civilian Fitness Program.

So… how is it going? Decent… I’m still holding steady at 188 lbs so that’s good. I took my measurements on Saturday and i’ve had a few minor changes and will come up with pictures, stats and measurements soon since I haven’t done that in a while. Eating was at about 75% again…I just think I consumed WAY to many calories and I didn’t really make good choices.

Here are my exercise stats for the past week:

  • Official Exercise Count:5
  • Exercise Time: 4 hours, 30 minutes
  • Total Calories Burned: 2,900 calories

At least I got SOME exercise in, right?

On a good note… I went to a nice little party on Saturday & tried on my Size M little black dress from GAP just for kicks and it fit! A little on the snugg size, but it fit quite nice. I haven’t been able to wear this dress since last year after my wedding when I was weighing about 165 lbs and at a size 8-10.

WOW!

Almost 25 lbs heavier but wearing the same dress!

AWESOME!

Muscle is good!

Here’s a picture for your viewing pleasure…

Full length 8-11-07

This baby will be fitting WAY better in 1 month! :D

That’s it for now.

Just some random thoughts…

August 10, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal 4 Comments →

Today is Day 26 of my Precision Nutrition Body Transformation Challenge & Day 139 of my Civilian Fitness Program. This week has really been an off week for me in regards to my nutrition choices & I have only logged in 2.6 hours of exercise so far and the week is almost done! :o

I guess that’s why I haven’t been updating much on my progress because there hasn’t really been significant progress in the past 2 months. I’m thinking that maybe I’m stressing too much, learning a lot about nutrition & exercise & then I’m just to drained or whatever to put it into practice 100% of the time. So basically… I have not been practicing what I preach.

Yesterday was the 1st time in a VERY long time that I ate like a pig. I literally stuffed my face with all kinds of foods & I knew that what I was doing was not right, but I kept on doing it anyway. Why? I don’t know… and that’s the scary part. I can’t believe that this was my typical way of eating a couple of months ago. I felt horrible and I still feel horrible today. I guess my body is not used to eating all that fat & processed foods anymore.

Today I’ve been reading over my progress pics & stats and a couple of very inspiring blogs of people that HAVE reached their goals ( Skwigg, Maggie, Magda, Lisa and others…) and they have helped a lot. I guess this is just one of those BLAH days and I had to let it out before I exploded and ate some more.

Yes, my name is Vilma & i’m an emotional eater… (recovering one)

I have 1 more month left until my Civilian Fitness Program is done and 3 more months until my Precision Nutrition Challenge is completed. I’ve also been contacted nutrition website inviting me to do a weight loss success interview for her website… what an honor!! I need to get ready for that as well.

What am I going to do differently that will kick start my fat loss once again and get me below 180 lbs in 1 month?

  • Log in ATLEAST 5 hours of exercise for the next 4 weeks
  • Don’t really stress about calories & ratios for the next 4 weeks
  • Focus more on building healthy habits (Precision Nutrition)

So… my goals for my final Civilian Fitness Program weigh in day (approx. 1 month from now) are:

  • lose 10 lbs of fat
  • be below 180 lbs
  • be at or below 32% body fat
  • fit comfortably into my size 12 jeans

That’s it. Nice & simple. I will still be following PN principles. After this goal is met, I plan to treat myself to something nice (maybe some clothes — no food this time around) and come up with a new mini-month challenge for the month of September-October.

Wow… I feel so much better now that I’ve let all this out. All comments, suggestions, support & virtual “kick my butt” speeches are welcome!

Thanks for reading.

PNTC - Week 3 review

August 06, 2007 By: Vilma Perez Category: Daily Journal 1 Comment →

Today marks Week 4 Day 22 of my Precision Nutrition Body Transformation Challenge & Week 20 Day 135 of my Civilian Fitness Program.

So… how is it going?  Good and Bad.

I finally hit 188 lbs. this past week after being on a almost two month plateau.  Eating has been good about 75% of the time… i’m still struggling with 90% compliance.  I will be talking pictures next week which will mark my 1 month progress pics.  I don’t really see much of a progress, but pictures don’t lie & we will see the “real” results then.

Need to get back on track with my eating right now… Saturday was ok… Sunday was bad… today has been really bad.

Here are my exercise stats for the past week:

  • Official Exercise Count: 7
  • Exercise Time: 5 hours, 45 minutes
  • Total Calories Burned: 4,123 calories

Not bad…

Now, about the eating………………………….
