10/18/07 Daily Journal
It’s 12:02 am here and past my bed time. :O I’m going on my 4th day of low carbing using Protein Power and I gotta say i’m finally getting over that slump and i’m feeling more energy and not craving much junk food anymore. But… I haven’t had energy to workout. At all. :-( I need to get back into it because I know my body needs it and it’s the only way I know to lose fat and keep it off. Hopefully i’ll have enough energy to workout later on today.
One thing i’ve noticed about eating low carb, at least for me, is that i’ve been eating pretty “bad” according to what I know is nutritious. These past couple of days my diet has consisted of cheese, cheese & more cheese + some pork rinds and more cheese. Uuuggghhh! I don’t want to develop these bad habits. I need to come up with a list of healthy allowed foods and stick to that and dump the cheese or at least eat it in moderation and only once a day OR just go back to my regular healthy and balanced way of eating while still avoiding the carbs that trigger my bloatiness & make me feel like crap (ex. wheat products, rice, etc…). :? What to do…. what to do…
Hmmmm…. I think I might need a personal trainer and I need to start planning out my meals better. I’m still searching high and low for the perfect meal planner/grocery shopping list maker/budget organizer software. The one that I tried out a couple of days ago had some type of bug in it and I also tried the Budget for Windows, but it wasn’t really what I was looking for. Maybe I need to come up with my own software….. Hmmm…. one day soon. As soon as I finish my CIS degree. If you know of one or have excell spreadsheets that you would like to share…. please do! I would really appreciate it!
That’s it for now….

Hey girl! What’s so “bad” about cheese anyway? It’s yummy, low fat, low to no carb, and high in calcium which has been proven to help the body burn more fat.
I lurve cheese! LOLOL! Definately dump the pork rinds though! I think you’re doing fine
As far as food lists, if you skip ahead in the book, Dr Eades has a pretty extensive one. Lean meats of all varities, low carb high fiber fruits, low fat dairy, lots of high fiber veggies, etc. Pork Rinds are a no no ma’am. Sounds more like Atkins than Protein Power. Instead of Pork Rinds, why not snack on some beef jerky (Angie on wahm sells some, we buy ours from her, it’s very healthy) and a half cup of strawberries? Or try a 1 minute muffin (no splenda or cinamon) with a couple tablspoons of home made guacamole. Pre cook a few chicken breasts, cut into cubes, melt 1/3 cup mozerella over them with some salsa. There’s lots of options listed in the book, but you just have to be creative.
The only difference between this and what you were previously doing in you’re choosing better carbs in a quantity that promotes fat loss and blood sugar balance instead of fat storage.
Protein Power is by far one of the healthiest plans I’ve seen…..if you stick to it. I know you can do it, you just have to get out of the “try it out” pattern of thinking. There’s no such thing as “try” you either do, or you don’t (Lavonne Atnip taught me that and it made a profound difference in my life). I know you CAN do it. You’re awesome, keep up the great work! Cheese rocks LOL!
Blessings,

Also make sure to eat plenty of LC veggies and consider taking a potassium supp for a couple of weeks (just follow general directions on the bottle) and stay away from diuretics (e.g. caffeine) while you’re electrolytes sort themselves out, may help you feel more energetic.
Why low fat dairy though? Unless your eating massive amounts I wouldn’t worry about it, it is good for you and where a lot of the goodness is, in which the fat will also serve to help absorb it.

Don’t forget you do need some healthy carbs — even Atkins says so (I called and spoke with the staff personally years ago and they strongly said that carbs are required!)
I’m doing Medifast it is high protein with moderate carb - allows green veggies - but no fruit. I was beginning to feel a bit run down and missing fruit like crazy - I found “Naturally Pomegrante” a liquid supplement, tons of antioxidant, only 16 calories, and equal to 15 pomegrantes - I wrote up a review about it this week — it might be something to look into to keep your health up while low carbing is and not getting a lot fruits.

Hey Vilma! Glad to see that you’re “back on track.” YAY you!
I’ll admit that I haven’t read Protein Power yet, but from looking around at the site and the forums, I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what it’s about.
While regular cheese isn’t necessarily “bad” for you in moderation, it can have a lot of fat per serving. Can you switch to low-fat/part-skim? As far as food ideas, what about low-fat cottage cheese? Turkey, chicken, tuna, tilapia, Canadian bacon (be careful of the fat content) or turkey bacon are good low carb foods. Do you like tofu? And I agree on the beef jerky - lots of protein and it’s low-fat and low-cal and tastes great!
There are tons of low carb meal websites out there; I’m sure you can find something that will help. Good luck!
